Greetings.
I am Dr. Binu Sasidharan. Let me acquaint you to my career path as an orthopaedic surgeon. I graduated from TDMC Alleppey in 1993. During my final year, I developed an ardent fascination to the technique of inserting ‘K nail’ into a fractured femur. I got attracted to orthopaedics like a key to a magnet. After completing my diploma and masters in orthopaedics, I started my career in orthopaedics with a brief stint at Lissie Hospital, Kochi. During that time, I developed a true passion for knee arthroscopy and arthroplasty. Soon I joined one year ISAKOS approved fellowship in arthroplasty and arthroscopy at AIMS, Kochi. Subsequently I started my practice at Caritas hospital, Kottayam which was truly a memorable and rewarding experience. In 2013 , I moved to New Medical Centre, Abu Dhabi, UAE. I am presently working here as a specialist orthopaedic surgeon.
During my career, I have done quite a few research activities and published my findings in peer reviewed International journals and have made many presentations. My area of expertise include knee arthroscopy, knee joint replacement, trauma and tumour surgeries. I believe that learning is a continuous process and I try to update myself by visiting world renowned experts in various sub-specialities in orthopaedics. Presently it is not wise to fully rely on published science; as a significant portion of the available literature is fad. So it is best to strike a balance between the time tested techniques, personal experiences, innovations and published results. I will present the consensus opinion of experts, summary of guidelines by international societies; like NICE and AAOS coupled with my personal observations in this website.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Apart from my professional life, I love to be part of some social gatherings as well. We have regular cultural activities at Association of Kerala Medical Graduates ( AKMG ). Snippets of such programmes will be uploaded periodically in my website. During my leisure time I read selected books. The world of books is a vast ocean, as you all know. I will share with you my thoughts on some interesting reads in this website as well.
